2020 Retreat Committee:

Buttons Needed!  The Retreat Committee is requesting button donations.  We need 1″-2″ buttons for a retreat project.  We will have a button container at the upcoming guild meeting for any buttons that you may want to find a new home for.

Community Quilters

No. 1

Please be sure to attend our March guild meeting to learn everything you always wanted to know about Community Quilters.  The program is “Community Quilters 101,” and we will have speakers and displays and a lot of information about this outreach program.  See you there!

No. 2

The response to our call for Oncology and Cardiology bags has been overwhelming!  I have over 50 in stock right now, and that is after a large delivery of both types of bags less than 1 month ago.  So our stock is full, and we can refocus on other items for awhile.  Many many thanks to all of you who made these little bags.  I have been told that when the patients go through the stack to pick out the one they like the best, it is a high point on an otherwise difficult journey.

Our community quilters have been very busy on 1st Thursdays making quilt top kits, and we are getting very short on some colors, specifically blues, grays and yellows that are solid or read solid, and are of good cotton quality. We use these fabrics as borders and sashings, so 1 yard pieces or larger are preferable.  So please go through your stash and donate what you can.  You know, this makes room to go out and buy some new stuff!  Thanks so much!

Quilts for the Recreation Center

Just a reminder to bring quilts to hang at the Rec Center.   The quilts must have hanging sleeves.  The theme this time is pretty spring flowers.

Thanks!

Barn Quilts Workshop – April 12th – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Join the Barn Quilt craze!

Painting Barn Quilts is a popular, lively 6 hour class with guided instruction taking you through the process of Barn Quilt painting from beginning to completion.  You will choose a quilt pattern from more than 3 dozen offered, or you may bring a favorite (instructor will evaluate the difficulty).  You will leave with your own masterpiece, ready for hanging and possibly the inspiration to participate in a Barn Quilt Trail in your neighborhood. Your Barn Quilt will be completely waterproof and finished at the end of class.  Barn Quilts add so much personality to  a barn, house, garage, garden shed, pump house or fence, and make great gifts. One is rarely enough!

The cost of the workshop is $55.00 for supplies and $35 for instruction and $10 for room rental.  The workshop will be held at the Newport Visual Arts Center on the 2nd floor.  The class size is limited to 20 and signup will take place at the March 14th Guild meeting.  A deposit of $75 is needed at the time of registration with the remainder due at the April 11th Guild meeting..
