Announcements

Hi Members:

Here are the things you need to know before the Guild Meeting on Thursday.

Quilt Registration

If you need to have photos taken of the quilts you wish to enter in the show, Nancy Blank, Linda Reeve and I will be available at 5:00 on Thursday to take them for you.  If you need help with the registration I can do that as well on Thursday.  Please remember that you need to put a 4″ sleeve on the back of your quilt.  Instructions are on Page 8 of the directory.  Also, you’ll need to fill out a label and apply to the lower right hand corner of the quilt, as well as an insurance waiver.  These are available on the website under Events.
We have 111 quilts registered so far.  We need many more!

Community Quilters
Bev Ohngren has graciously agreed to sit at the Community Quilters table at the June Guild meeting to pass out kits and receive anything you have completed.  Please be sure to attach a paper with info about who worked on the quilt and the size is also very helpful.  If you are turning in a bag or burp cloths, please attach a tag with your name on the item(s)  Thank you all for continuing to make items for this committee!  Right now our most pressing need is pillows for the hospital.  These are 12 x 12 or 12 x 14, and stuffed lightly.  They are used by patients after surgery as a “brace” when they cough to clear their lungs.  I hope to be back in the swing of things by the July meeting!

Member Activities Booth at Quilt Show
We will have a new “hands on” experience for our guests at the show this year.  I am asking for 3-1/2″ blocks, cut accurately, and at least 9 of any given color or pattern.  Don’t forget to include those that could be used for our Veterans’ Quilt Project in patriotic colors. We will be collecting these at the June and July meetings.  You can give them to either Lois Pleger or Beth Nicholson.  These ladies are in the process of creating the best Member Activities Booth ever!

Retreat
Thank you to everyone that has signed up for the Retreat.  It’s been very successful – we are filled up 🙂  But don’t let that stop you from signing up for the Waiting List.  We already have three on the list but things change very quickly.  We will be at the General Meeting during the Table Walk & Break so stop by & see us.
Your Retreat Committee,
Georgia, Cyndie, Gail & Jan

2019 Raffle Quilt Tickets

June meeting is the last meeting to pick up raffle tickets.  There is still plenty time to sell them!  Please return all tickets, money and stubs by July Guild meeting unless you make special arrangements with Jane.  Please spread the news about our Quilt Show by posting or handing out rack card brochures, available at the meeting. Your community centers, doctor offices, dentists,  churches, neighbors are great places to start. Lets all try to bring one new friend to the Show, that’s almost 200 new attendees!

Just a reminder to bring hanging quilts for the Rec. Summery ones.  These will be up until Aug so people will see them when they come to the Quilt Show.

Finishing School
Finishing School will be meeting June 27 from 10 to 4 at the Carriage House at the Lincoln County Historical Museum at 545 SW 9th St, Newport. It is a great time to work on a project without being interrupted. You may bring your machine or hand work we have an iron there for you to use. You may come at any time and stay as long as you like. Bring a sack lunch or go out what ever you would rather do. It is also a great way to get to know other guild members and get help on a project that you need advice on. Fun time is had by all.

Veterans Medallion Challenge
Blocks need to be turned in at the June meeting to be included in the voting.  Be sure to come to the meeting and vote for your favorites.  We will also have the voting at the July meeting.
