September General Meeting will be Zoom – Don’t Miss Community Quilters Open House – Cutting Table for Sale

September General Meeting will be a Zoom Meeting

I know it is not the same as being together at Atonement Lutheran, but I find it helpful in breaking through the isolation that we might feel in times like these.  At the last Board meeting and after the success of the Zoom Show and Share on August 13th, it was decided to hold our monthly general meetings via Zoom.  Even though familiar faces may be in tiny little boxes, it is still fun to see each other and hear what is going on.

So look for a zoom link in your email box sometime on Wednesday September 9th and be ready to join us for a virtual meeting at 1:00 on Thursday, September 10th.  I will also post the link on our web page under Events/Calendar/September 10. (http://oregoncoastalquilters.org/event/general-meeting-via-zoom-100pm/) A day or so after the meeting, I will post the recording of it so you can revisit at your convenience.  The recording will stay up for 2 months and then I will take it down to save on cloud storage space.

Want to share some of your work at the September meeting? Please send me a photo of your quilt(s) (email Nan.Scott@oregonstate.edu or text 541-961-5610) and I will show it at the meeting while you describe it to the group.  That way everyone can see it more easily and you don’t have to worry about the technology.  I need to have the pictures no later than Monday September 7th before the meeting.

If you missed the August 13th Virtual Show and Share, you can see the recording also from the Calendar entry for August 13th.  You don’t need any special software to watch the recordings, but if you would like to join the Zoom meeting, feel free to contact me (Nan Scott) for help in getting set up. We had 44 attending in August.  It would be great to see that many and more in September!  The nice thing about Zoom is that you can connect from anywhere.  Some joined us from their car, outside on the deck, or even from a long distance as Mary Gilliland did.

I’ll also set up breakout “rooms” where a smaller number can get together and talk freely.  Too bad we can’t share a cookie or coffee, but the technology is not quite there yet!

I can’t wait to “see” you all soon.

Nan Scott
