Small Quilts Displayed at Newport Library this July

Don’t miss it!

During July, the Newport Public Library is displaying 17 small quilts made by OCQG members. Library visitors are invited to view the quilts and vote for a favorite. After the library votes are counted, the person who made the “most-votes” quilt will be honored at the guild’s general meeting. In addition, the person who made the auction quilt that received the most votes at the library will be able to designate an additional nonprofit to receive $50 from the guild. Library staff have remarked that both staff and patrons are enjoying the quilts.

After the display is taken down, the quilts will travel to the Newport Recreation Center, where they and many more will be (silently) auctioned as part of the OCQG annual quilt show, “Quilts by the Sea,” August 5 and 6. Half the proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to a local nonprofit organization.
