May Speaker for Guild Meeting
Emily Taylor of Collage Quilter will be presenting a trunk show May 13, 1 pm Guild Meeting
Emily loves beautiful fabric and creating art. She thinks of collage quilt-making as painting with fabric! Her goal is to help you have success with your collage quilts.
It’s time again for Open House in Waldport!
- 2-4 folding chairs — do not need to match
- Stepladder with rails or small sturdy ladder not over 6 feet tall
- Must be really safe for all of us
- Kitchen size trash can for under main table
- Wall clock
Please bring your mask and remember only 2-3 members inside at one time.
See you there!

Raffle Quilt Ticket Sales
HELP support the beautiful 2021 raffle quilt and pick up packets of tickets to sell or buy for yourself. We may not be able to have a quilt show again this year so we need to do all that we can to get those tickets sold and stubs turned in within the next couple of months. Melissa will be at the Community Quilters in Waldport Thursday May 6th from 10-2 with ticket packets and the record book so you can turn in stubs and get more packets. This is important! In this time of “shut down” the raffle quilt is our one main way to raise money for the guild.

Veteran’s Committee
We’ve had a very busy month! 16 people sewed at the Sew in in Siletz on April 21st. On April 29th, we presented 3 quilts at the American Legion in Newport. All were Viet Nam Veterans. Unfortunately, one was given posthumously to a son, also a veteran, in honor of his dad. It was a lovely tribute. In March & April, we presented 38 quilts.
We need any help you can provide like making blocks, quilt tops, machine quilting and if you can to embroider labels on your embroidery machines. Thanks for all your support. We have many Lincoln County Veterans. They are so appreciative of our efforts.

2022 Raffle Quilt UpDate:
It has been an “unusual way” to design our 2022 Raffle Quilt! Viki West creating Zoom meetings, with 4 ladies living in 4 different places, during quarantine! It has been eventful, and we came up to the challenge! We had our 2nd in person & “in the same garage” design meeting, on April 9, masked, now having 1st & 2nd vaccines, we had a very productive meeting!
Our chosen design is the Newport Bridge. It will be a nice size wall quilt picture featuring several “quilting” skills. (but could become a quilted throw).
Considering the past year of quarantine and missing our Guild meeting get together, it excites us that all members will have the opportunity to participate, adding your special skill level to this raffle quilt. Our design will begin with making 9 patch and snail trail blocks. We will cut out fabric for each block, include instructions & picture, helping you sew it together. Hoping to make it easy so even newbies can have a hand in making our quilt.
Viki West is our contact person for getting these “kits” into your hands. She will be at “Community quilters” in Waldport on May 6, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. The finished blocks will be due June 3, at the “community quilters” meeting. If you can’t make this delivery point, please contact Viki to make arrangements. We want everyone to be part of our Raffle quilt project!

Blog Editor
If you are interested in knowing all the news before anyone else does, have average computer skills and a good internet service I’d love to train you to take over the blog in January 2022. We can work together for the rest of this year until you feel comfortable taking the job.
Thanks for considering this position,
Melissa
PS: I had to share this amazing quilt. I saw it on Facebook and the person who posted it said she did not know who made it.
