Quilt Show Update

Please register your quilts; we only have 29 now. The Quilt Intake is July 29, but the registration deadline is July 4. If you need help registering your quilt, come early to the June 13 Guild meeting by 5 pm; photos can be taken then also.

Boutique

Don’t forget to get your Boutique number and tags from Gail C. at the June meeting. The Boutique is your opportunity to sell your quilted items, fabric, notions, and patterns. You only need to work one (1) shift during the Show to sell your items.

Grab Bags

Please clean out your quilting room for any grab bag items: patterns, magazines, fabric, notions. You may bring them to the Guild meeting and give to Judy Line or Jane S. These sell quickly, and you get more room for new fabric. If you have lots of stuff, we will pick it up. Just call Jane S.

Guild Activity Booth

New this year: We will be selling some of our favorite notions at the booth. Come by early for some great bargains. We will be located next to the Veterans Booth.

Also, there will be two raffle baskets each day, full of terrific items to win–$1 for each ticket or 6 tickets for $5. Check out these baskets, and thanks to our small groups for their donations.

Volunteers

Please sign up to volunteer during the week of the Quilt Show. There are several places that need your help.

Judging is July 30-31, see Pat Laub.

Setup/Takedown is Aug. 1 and Aug. 3, see Jane S to sign up.

Quilt Show is Aug. 2-3. Pamela will have the poster at the Guild meeting or go to our website, oregoncoastalquiltersguild.org and click on Events, Quilt Show, Volunteer Schedule.

Small Quilt Auction

We still need more quilts for our auction. Please consider donating a small quilt, tote, table topper to help a charity in our area. Half of our proceeds will go to a chosen charity. See Kathy Lambert for questions and to donate. All that fit will be displayed at the Newport Library the month of July to help promote the show.

Potluck on Aug. 1, Newport Rec. Center

Please bring some food, anytime from 9:00 – 11:00 am, to share with the Quilt Show setup volunteers. We usually have about 40-50 people, so please be generous. Thanks to Wilma for organizing this.

A Big Thank-You!

I just wanted to give a big shout-out to thank all of you who made and contributed baby quilts, receiving blankets and burp cloths for the local labor and delivery department in Newport. On Sunday, May 26th, I delivered three large totes full of items. You may have seen the Facebook post already of my granddaughter and I on delivery day.

We got some good pictures of the items. Savannah wanted everything in the photo. We donated over 40 receiving blankets, over 60 burp cloths, three fleece blankets and 13 quilts.

There were no moms and babies there that day, but soon there will be some recipients of our handiwork. My granddaughter will hopefully be able to come to the June guild meeting to update us on the new moms’ reactions to our gifts.

Thanks to Paulette, I will have some more quilt kits available at the June meeting. This project has truly blown up, and I am so very excited and grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm and participation. Let’s keep this party going!

Thank you again,

Lynn Moody
