Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild Minutes of the General Meeting, via Zoom November 12, 2020

Meeting was called to order by President, Diane Tillotson at 1:00 p.m.

Diane announced that she would conduct a short business meeting prior to introducing the speaker and program.

Announcements:

  1. VirginiaFisher,aformerlyactiveGuildmemberhaspassedaway.
  2. TheGuildhasreceivedathank-younotefromNancyCrosswholostherhome in the recent wildfire. She was the primary recipient of the funds collected from our members. Diane noted that money can still be donated, and praised the generosity of the Guild in this fund raising effort.
  3. VeteransQuiltProjectwillholdasew-inattheSiletzGrangeonFridayDec. 4 from 10:00 – 4:00. Call Betty Wilson to reserve one of 15 spaces available at that forum.
  4. ThenextCommunityQuiltsOpenHousewillbeatLeePalmer’sofficein Waldport on Thursday December 3 from 10:00 – 2:00. It will include a “Merchandise Extravaganza” where Guild logo merchandise will be available for purchase. Members can also go on line to buy.
  5. Zoommeetingscontinue,withthenextgeneralmeetingscheduledfor December 12. The next board meeting will be November 19 at 10:00 a.m.
  6. Thebudgetfor2021isreadyforapproval.NanScotthassent2linksfor viewing the 3-page budget on line. Jane Szabo moved to approve the budget as recommended by the board. Joanne Ballantyne seconded. There was no discussion. Motion carried unanimously by show of hands.
  7. Theslateofnomineesfornextyear’sofficersare: Merilee Wilson, President
    Sue Stephenson, Vice President
    Barbara Kinzel, SecretaryJanet Sylvester, Treasurer. Voting will occur in December.

8. JaneSzabointroducedtoday’sspeaker,BrandyMaslowskifromB.C. Canada. Her talk, entitled “Studio Magnificent” was all about organizing, sorting, purging and uncluttering your sewing space. She recommended the book “Clear your Clutter with Feng Shui” by Karen Kingston and “The LifeChanging Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo as published in the magazine “A Needle Pulling Thread.”

Following her lecture, she offered a door prize (3 blue fat quarters) won by Kathleen Holt who willl receive them in the mail. Then she gave a studio walk-through tour and took questions from the audience. In response to Nan Scott’s question about her umbrella lights, she uses them to better illuminate herself when she is giving her pod casts “Quilter on Fire.” Her website is brandy@quilteronfire.com. Her podcast launches December 1st and will air 3 episodes on the first day.

Due to the length of the program presentation, there was no Show and Share scheduled today.
