Community Quilters
Attention Community Quilters! (That’s ALL guild members!)
After our break during the quilt show, we are back with the creative juices flowing. We have some exciting new projects to work on at our next 1st Thursday. You don’t want to miss this time! You don’t need to bring anything other than your ideas and opinions, and I know that will not be too big a challenge for many of us. We always have a great time, but we’re winding up the fun meter next month! So come and join us at Ruth’s Family Fabrics on September 6 from 10 to 2. You can come and go as you like, bring your lunch or pick up something from Subway, Chubbys, etc.
I also want to thank all the guild members who answered my call for tote bags for our event at Seashore Family Literacy taking place this week. Each bag will be filled with a community quilt, a book or two, and info about our guild and quilt care. Elizabeth Wood is spearheading this project, working with Seashore’s director, Sentilla McKenzie. Thanks to Elizabeth, and to all of you “tote makers.” We have enough for this presentation, but this will be an ongoing thing, so please keep making totes so we don’t face an urgent situation in the future! I am ever amazed at the response when our membership is made aware of a need – cudos to all of you!!!!

Reminder!!!
I will be returning your Patriotic quilts at the September guild meeting and will be needing Fall and Halloween quilts. Please be sure they have a name and hanging sleeve on them. Bring them to me at the September guild meeting. The next round will be in October and will be Thanksgiving and Christmas which will stay up until the Jan 2019 guild meeting.

Quilt Documentation
The documentation team needs your quilts. We do old quilts, new quilts, quilt tops or just quilt blocks. They are all important to quilting history. We have currently documented over 1700 quilts since the program was started in 2000 by Twy Hoch. After the team volunteers document your quilt you will be given a copy of all the info about your quilt along with photos. A copy will also be donated to the Lincoln County Historical Society. The info about your quilt will be entered into the quiltindex.com web site for the quilters around the world to see. There is a $5.00 charge per quilt to cover our expenses. Come visit one of our documentation days to see if you would be interested in joining our team. Please check the calendar on the guild website for documentation dates. If you have questions, or would like to have a quilt documented, please contact me at evelyndepaolo@concast.net or call Twy Hoch.

Finishing School
Finishing School will be meeting on Sept.27 from 10 to 4 at the Carriage House at the Lincoln County Historical Museum at 545 SW 9th St, Newport. It is a great time to work on a project without being interrupted. You may bring your machine or hand work we will have an iron there for you to use. You may come at any time and stay as long as you like. Bring a sack lunch or go out what ever you would rather do. It is also a great way to get to know other guild members and get help on a project that you need advice on. Fun time is had by all.

Lee Palmer and I are now sharing the responsibility of publishing the blog. We haven’t had a complete training session with Nan yet, but there’s one scheduled when she returns from vacation. She’ll show us how to create a PDF of the blog posts at that time. I apologize for the inconvenience.
