Community Quilters

To all Community Quilters
We have a new item that needs to be prepared for Children’s Advocacy Center.  This is a bag for toiletry items for the kids being removed from their homes.  We will have the instructions on the web soon, but in the meantime, we have prepared “kits” to make these for both boys and girls, and they will be available at our table for the guild meeting.  Please come back and check these out!  See you soon.

Documentation

Our next quilt documentation will be at the North Lincoln County Museum on April 13th.

Finishing School

Finishing School will be meeting on April 25 from 10-4 at the Carriage House at the Lincoln County Historical Museum at 545 SW 9th St, Newport. It is a great time to work on a project without being interrupted. You may bring your machine or hand work we will have an iron there for you to use. You may come at any time and stay as long as you like. Bring a sack lunch or go out what ever you would rather do. It is also a great way to get to know other guild members and get help on a project that you need advice on. Fun time is had by all.

Quilt Show

Registration is open online for the quilt show.  We’ve only had a hand full of quilts registered so far, so please begin signing up the quilts you plan to show.

Small Quilts for Silent Auction

Just a reminder that we need lots of small quilts for the Silent Auction at our show.  These little quilts can be any size from 12” to a maximum of 18” and can be any technique or pattern that you find appealing.  Half of the funds raised will go to a selected charity, and the other half to our guild.  Please have them ready by the June meeting so that we can display them at the Newport Library in July.  The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilt, and the maker of the winning quilt gets to choose a charity that will receive $50.  Please remember to include a label on the back of your quilt, and a “Buy it Now” price, as well as your suggested opening bid.
Many thanks to all of you.
Lisa Taylor

Sponsored Ribbons

It’s time to start thinking about your creative titles for sponsored ribbons.  The sign up sheet will be at the April meeting.   The cost is still $10 to honor your quilting buddies with a Sponsored Ribbon.
There are some surprises for those who sign-up early and pay on time.

SABLE

The fat quarters for the month are Modern Fabrics.

Veteran’s Quilt Project & Challenge Quilt Medallions

Hopefully you are all getting your challenge blocks done.  We have had about 10 or 12 turned in already and they are pretty nice.  We did have one turned in that we can’t find the name on, so we don’t know who it belongs to.  If you turned yours in and are not sure if you had your name on it somewhere, please stop by at the meeting and see if it is yours.  We do have a few kits leftover if you would like to make another one.
If your block is finished and you would like to turn it in – please write your name on the back in one of the seam allowances.  Then fold it up and put in a bag, the plastic bag it came in is fine and turn it in at the meeting.  The blocks will be revealed at the June meeting and we will vote on the winners.  Don’t show your block to anyone, we want them to be a surprise and the voting to be anonymous.
Can’t wait to see the rest of them.  Ginger Dale
