Before August Meeting Announcements

We Love a Parade (of Ribbon Winners)!

Tablewalk will begin at 5:30 and the general meeting/program will start at 6:00. See you then!

The block of the month will include multiple flying geese.  At 5:00 before table talk we will be showing a technique on how to make them. If you are planning to do the block, come see how it’s done.

SABLE for this month is : Purple and Green

The general meeting for Thursday, August 8 will feature the ribbon winners from our quilt show. Join the celebration (and if you were awarded a ribbon, please bring your quilt and ribbon to the meeting)!

Don’t miss this opportunity to congratulate the winners—including the placement  ribbons, challenge winners, the special ribbon winners, and the sponsored ribbons—and once again soak in the beauty created by our members. Viewers’ Choice winners will be announced, too.

Also, the show co-chairs will present some statistics about the show—more cause for celebration!

Displayed at Labels

The “displayed at” labels for quilts that were in our show haven’t arrived yet. We’ll have them at guild meetings and will send a blog notice as soon as they come. Our apologies for the delay.

COMMUNITY QUILTERS

We are back in full force!  Our table in the back at this upcoming guild meeting will be fully stocked with lots of items for our members to take home and work on.  We have over 20 quilt bundles that need to be quilted, in all sizes and ‘themes.’  We also have a lot of quilt top kits that need to be pieced.  Please make a point to come around and see us during table walk and at the break.
We have supplied the school nurses in Waldport, Toledo, Philomath, and Blodgett with quilts for kids who come to the office when they are ill or injured.  The response has been great!  I would like to meet this need in Newport, Depot Bay and Lincoln City, but I need a contact person who would meet with the nurse, assess the need and then deliver the quilts.  We will supply you with appropriate quilts after you have met with the nurse.
Thank you all so much for your involvement in these efforts.  We really can make a difference in the lives of others.

Upcoming Program and Workshop:

Mister Domestic will provide a trunk show at our October 10th meeting.  He lives in Camas WA and has a huge following on YouTube and Etsy.  On October 11th he will teach a workshop for us at Atonement Lutheran Church.  Would you like to think “outside the box” and learn to make this pillow?

The cost will be $30.00 and the supplies you need to bring, besides sewing equipment, are 6 fat quarters in solid colors:  2 coordinating colors for the flower center, 2 for the petals, and 2 for the leaves.  Registration will take place at our August and September meetings and we’ll need at least 15 to 24 to register for the workshop.  Payment must be paid by September 12th.  This should be a fun project to make!!!

2020 Retreat

Hello Retreaters,
Just a reminder that if you have not paid your $50 non-refundable deposit the September deadline is quickly approaching.  We are looking forward to having another great Retreat.  Please bring your payment to the meeting or mail to Georgia Sabourin. As it stands now, we have a full retreat with 5 people on the waiting list.  We will fill spots using the wait list so don’t hesitate to contact Georgia if you have not signed up but would like to be placed on the wait list.  Life happens so there still may be a chance for us to find a spot for you.
Thank you from your Retreat Committee,
Georgia, Gail Chapman, Jan McQueen and Cyndie Wenz
