Corrected Minutes for June, 2019 General Meeting

Please note: These minutes have corrections.  Please refer to this post rather than the previous one.

The meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. by President, Diane Tillotson.

A thank you card was received from SPCH Cardiac Rehab.

Quilt Show sign-up sheets are at the information table.

Diane announced that Sheila Stevens had a stroke.

VAC Display – Gloria Zirges

In order to promote our annual quilt show, we are having a small exhibit of art quilts in the Upstairs Gallery of the VAC, July 3-27.  Janet Webster, Tina McCann and Gloria Zirges coordinated the exhibit  by calling on Guild ribbon winners who create art quilts.  This category was selected as the best fit for the VAC’s mission.  In future years, if there is an interest, other quilt categories could be featured.

We have 12 Guild members and about 12-15 quilts.  Tom Webb, the VAC director, will hang the show

and handle the publicity. The show should be a positive way to create publicity for our annual show.

There is a tea party on July 5, 3-5, to introduce the exhibit.  Please come and bring a friend.  We’ll post information on the Guild’s blog.  The Upstairs Gallery is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 12-4.  Volunteers often staff the gallery, so if you have a free afternoon in July, please contact Janet Webster.  It’s a great spot to set up your machine or take your handwork and work while chatting with visitors.

Patti Stevens moved for acceptance of the May General Meeting minutes.  Motion was seconded by Jackie Stankey and passed by a voice vote.

Rec Center Hangings – Debbie Mosley is asking for “Summery Quilts” to hang.  The quilts will be returned after the Quilt Show.

Membership – Ruth Johnson reported there are 77 members, 1 guest and 1 new member at the meeting. We now have “200” Guild Members!

Oregon State Fair – The Guild has been asked to put on a demonstration at the State Fair on Friday, August 30th from 10a.m.-3p.m.  If you are able to help please contact Twy Hoch. Members will carpool and tickets and parking passes will be issued.

Finishing School – Paulette Stenberg invited everyone to attend Finishing School on May 27th from 10a.m.-4p.m.  It’s a great time to take advantage of everyones “Wisdom and Knowledge” and to get your UFO’s done so they can be shared as “Finally Finished Projects”!

Programs – Janet DeSau reported that next month’s program will be FFO.  Please sign up at the information table.

Challenge – Ginger Dale reported there have been 46 Challenge Medallions turned in and they are on display around the room.  Please pick up a ballot during break and vote for your top 3 choices.  Voting will continue at the July meeting (remember you can only vote once).  The Medallions will be hung at the Quilt Show.

2020 Raffle Quilt – Ann Flescher announced that all 20 blocks have been finished and construction of the quilt will start.  Thank you to the members that made the blocks. There will be a “glimpse” of the quilt at the Quilt Show.

2019 Raffle Quilt – Phyllis Mitchell reported there are tickets available and reminds everyone to sell, sell, sell.  Tickets and money need to be turned in at the July meeting.  The quilt is heading to Family Fabrics in Waldport.

2020 Guild Retreat – Georgia Sabourin reported that the retreat is full and there are 5 members on the waiting list.  You are encouraged to still sign up if you want to go since there are often changes in peoples plans and spots open up.
