December 13th Guild Meeting Reminders

A Note from President Phoebe Hein

Our December Meeting will Begin at 12:30 with a Presentation of Veteran’s Quilts, followed immediately with our annual potluck. We won’t have Table Walk because the tables will be set for food and eating.  The veterans will be invited to joint us for lunch.  After lunch and a short break we’ll have our December meeting.  The 2019 Featured Quilter will be announced along with the instillation of the 2019 Officers.

Sign Ups:  There will be sign-ups for Quilt Show Committee positions and next year’s Challenge Quilt.

Potluck: Remember to bring a placemat, plate and utensils.  Label your dish if it contains nuts, shellfish or if it’s gluten-free.

Threads of Life Quilt Project:If you’d like to help out with The Threads of Life Quilt Project on January 19th please speak with Sue at the meeting or give her a call.

Membership Dues & Photos:If you haven’t paid your membership dues yet, please be prepared to pay at the meeting.  You can have a new photo taken at the meeting as well.

Retreat:Final payment for the retreat or retreat classes is due at the December meeting.

Raffle Quilt:  We’ll defer a decision on the 2019 Raffle Quilt until the January meeting.  Please draw up your concrete ideas for presentation at that time. (We need more than just concepts.)

A Note from Sue Stephenson

Pillowcases:  We are receiving requests from 2 of the agencies that we serve for pillowcases.  Remember a few years back when many of us participated in the One Million Pillowcases national challenge?  Those pillowcases we made were AWESOME – such a variety of material patterns and so nice looking and well made.  How many can each of you put together before Christmas?  Even if it’s just one, that could make a huge difference to a young person entering into foster care, or a young family who has just lost their home.  I’d like to get an assortment of “styles,” such as sports, cute little girl patterns, modern designs – you decide!  Then give me a call and I will come and pick them up so we can get them delivered asap.

Christmas Stockings:  If you took one of the Christmas Stockings handed out by Community Quilters please bring it to the December meeting and if you can’t attend please call Sue. (661-904-8130)

Threads of Life Quilt Project:If you’d like to help out with The Threads of Life Quilt Project on January 19th please speak with Sue at the meeting or give her a call.

Thanks!  Sue Stephenson

A Note from Nan Scott

Several guild members have taken advantage of a guild “Group Buy” from the manufacturers of SewEzi sewing tables.  You may have seen these in use in workshops and retreats.  Prices for the three styles are $199 for the solid surface extension table; $249 for the portable sewing machine table with insert to fit your machine; $479 for the Grande Table (movable but not portable) for the larger machines with extended throat area.  Shipping to Oregon is $30 for either of sthe two portable tables or $55 for the Grande.

If we can come up with 10 orders, each order will get a $20 discount.  Once we have commitment for 10 orders, you will be able to order and pay on-line for yourself.  Their web site is www.sewezi.com.  I have had my portable table for about seven years now and I just love it!  Let me know at the meeting or email me if you are interested.
