Porch Drop

In the spring of 2020, up came Covid and down came the need to “shelter in place” and stay physically distant from one another. No more quilt guild gatherings!

Community Quilters leader Sue Stephenson found a way for us to stay in touch through the Round Robin Porch-Drop quilts! We started by making a yellow house, then passed it onto the porch of a fellow quilter. That person added a panel to the right side of the house: a Covid-coping activity—and then on to the next porch. The assignment this time was to add a panel on the left side: what we were looking forward to doing when it was safe again. After a final porch drop, the sky and ground were added. Many of the blocks featured clever embellishments, too.

More quilters assembled the blocks into four wall quilts, quilted them, and did the final finishing. Happier days are (almost) here again at our little yellow houses!
