OREGON COASTAL QUILT GUILD EXECUTIVE MEETING NOVEMBER 19, 2020

 

The Executive Committee meeting of the Oregon Coastal Quilt Guild was held by Zoom on November 19, 2020 and called to order by President Diane Tillotson at 10am.  A quorum was present.

Approval of Minutes – Jean Amundson moved that the minutes of the October Executive Board Meeting be approved as published.  Motion was seconded by Nan Scott and passed by a hand vote.

Treasurers Report – Janet Sylvester presented the treasurers report and it was accepted as presented.

Janet reported that a check for $2000 was sent to Nancy Cross from the Fire Relief Fund.

New Business

Nan Scott asked for instructions from the board regarding whether Show & Share should be presented every month or as requested by the program committee. Discussion followed and it was decided that

Show and Share would be limited to 2 items per person and the first 15 people would be accepted. Information needs to be given to Nan two weeks ahead of the meeting date.  If there is no program, there will be no limits on show and share participation.

President Diane Tillotson announced that Barbara Kinzel will be the new OCQG secretary.

 

Committee Reports

Audit – no report

Block of the Month – no report

Challenge  Quilt – Jean Amundson reported there is still no chair for the 2021 Challenge Quilt committee.  Request for volunteer will go out one more time since it is the 30th Anniversary for Quilt Guild. Jean reported that the 2020 Challenge Quilts will be hanging at the Latimer Center during January and February.

Communication – Nan Scott reminded committee chairs to turn in items for publishing on the BLOG.

Community Quilters – Sue Stephenson reported that currently they have had few requests.  Quilts were donated for fire victims in the Otis and Lincoln City area.  December 3rd will be Open House in Waldport.  Quilt tops are not needed at this time, but there is a need for quilting and binding.  It is expected that there will be an increase for face masks during the winter months.

Hospitality – Barbara Kinzel is stepping down as committee chair and  Georgia Sabourin and Janet Childers will take over as co-chairs of the committee.

Membership – no one present to report

Merchandising – Becky Mershon announced a Clothing Extravaganza on Thursday, December 3rd at the Community Quilters open house in Waldport.  Come do your Christmas shopping!

Programs/Workshops – Janet DeSau reported that Quilt Artist Sue Sherman will present the program at the general membership meeting in December.   It will feature quilts of endangered species and vulnerable animals.

Publicity – no report

Quilters Surprise – no report

Retreat 2022 – Georgia Sabourin reported that she will check out the Oregon Gardens 10,000sq ft room in the spring in preparation of the 2022 Guild Retreat.

Veterans Projects – Rose Shaw announced that there will be a sew-in on December 4th from 10am-4pm at the Siletz Grange.  To date the Veterans Project has delivered a total of 223 quilts, including the 19 quilts delivered this month.  There are 7 quilts ready for the 19 applicatiions being worked on.  A new list of 58 requests will be worked on after the current list is completed. Quilts are always needed,  size 70 x 55,  Patriotic Themed in red/white/blue with stars and stripes are best.

2021 Raffle Quilt – Nan Scott reported that raffle tickets have been ordered as well as 500 postcards and  25 posters.  Ticket packets can be picked up at the Community Quilts open house in Waldport on December 3rd.

Fire Relief Fund – The guild members have very generously donated over $4,000 dollars.  Donations must be received by December 10th  when final distributions will be made.  Nan Scott will put a notice  on the BLOG.  Debbie Mosley made a motion that the remainder of the Guild Fire Relief Fund be dispersed by December 15th to Nancy Cross.  Motion was seconded by Becky Mershon and passed by a hand vote.  Janet Sylvester, treasurer will email the Executive Board as to the amount sent.
