The location:
Aldersgate Camps and Retreats encompasses 40 scenic acres in a beautiful forest setting located in Turner, Oregon not far from the Enchanted Forest I-5 exit.
7790 Marion Road SE, Turner OR 97392
WiFi Internet is available throughout all facilities.
Our sleeping location is marked with a red arrow (1 Aldersgate Lodge and RV Parking).
We will be eating in 19 where the blue arrow points and sewing in 16, the large auditorium, where the black arrow points. There are multiple smaller rooms off the auditorium for games or workshops
Sleeping Quarters
1 Aldersgate Lodge
24 sleeping rooms. Each room has a twin bed, a double bed, and a flip down bunk bed. The bathroom has a shower and toilet, the sleeping room has a vanity with a sink and mirror. The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and the beds are comfortable. Cost is $360 per person regardless of how many are sharing the room, but to rent this facility we must have 45 people registered in the lodge so most rooms will have to be at least double occupancy.
RV Spaces
Aldersgate’s RV sites are to be used in tandem with rental at the camp, they are not open to public rental. Complete with 14 full hook-ups, these spots make for a great addition to the retreat. In addition, there are five sites with electric and water. We are not guaranteed that we will have exclusive access. Cost is $190 per person regardless of how many are sharing the RV.
Sewing and Dining
We sew in a large auditorium with plenty of room to spread out. The ceilings are high so you may want to bring your own light. The auditorium is a few steps from Aldersgate Lodge. There will be drinking water in the sewing room, you might want to bring your own water bottle; and you can bring any snacks you want – i.e. fruit, nuts, candy, or cookies. Alcohol is not allowed.
We get lunch and dinner Tuesday; breakfast, lunch and dinner Wednesday and Thursday; and breakfast Friday. Aldersgate is very conducive to special needs meals. You go to the kitchen window and tell them you ordered a vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free meal, and they will hand you your plate. Staff must know any special meal requirements two weeks before the retreat. The dining room is large enough so that we will not need to eat in shifts. The rooms don’t have a fridge but there is a full-sized refrigerator at the back of the second dining room for any retreater’s use.
Activities
Challenge View and voting, Game night
Strip Exchange, Demos and Free Strip Pattern
Activities will include a game night, a voluntary 2 ½” strip exchange, demos showing different ways to use 2 ½” strips, and some free patterns using the strips. Please indicate if you want to participate in the strip exchange when you sign up for the retreat. After sign-ups are closed, we will let you know how many 2 ½” X WOF jewel tone strips to bring to the retreat. They will be redistributed, and you will get a bag of strips that contains the same number you brought. We are offering a new challenge this year, if you want to participate you can pick up a piece of the challenge fabric at the registration table, or request we mail one to you if you live out of the area. You can make anything you want and use as many other fabrics as you want, as long as the challenge fabric is clearly visible in your finished piece. You do not have to make a quilt or a quilted piece; again, it can be whatever you choose to make. Bring your finished piece to the retreat in a bag without your name on it. After everyone has checked in, we will put the challenge pieces on display and vote for viewer’s choice on Saturday.
Nature surrounds you here. Enjoy the easy walking – hiking trails and bubbling streams
