Saturday Workshop & Quilt Show Registration

Community Quilter Workshop

This coming Saturday (3/23) is the Community Quilters Workshop.  Here’s everything you need to know.

Workshop hours are 9 to 3 in the Fellowship Hall at Atonement.  You can come and go as you are able.  We will take a break for lunch around noon with pizza provided by Community Quilters.  You need to bring whatever you would like to drink for the day.

Work tables will be set up around the room and you can pick and choose what you want to do.  You will have the opportunity to make a dog/cat bed, learn to tie a quilt, design a quilt top, learn how to “sandwich” a quilt to prepare it for quilting, add borders to some small quilt tops we have received, and make burp cloths.  You can participate in any or all of these activities throughout the day.

Here is the supply list for making dog/cat beds:

Sizes are:   Large 30”X36”

Smaller 18”X 30” or 20”X 24”

You need: 2 pieces of fabric the size you choose.  You can use fleece for both pieces or fleece for top and a sturdy fabric on the bottom.

Bring stuffing, fabric clippings and poly batting scraps to fill along with fabric scraps.

Sewing Machine with size 90 needle or Jeans needle.

WALKING FOOT & tools you use when sewing.

You will also need to bring your sewing machine if you want to sew a burp cloth or add borders to a small quilt.

We will supply all the fabric and cutting tools needed for the day.  All you need to bring is your sunny disposition and your joy of doing something for others.

I hope all of you will plan to spend some time with us on Saturday.  See you there!

Sue

Quilt Show Registration

You can begin registering your quilts for the quilt show now.   Registration closes on July 5th.  On the Home Page of the guild’s webpage you’ll find all the information you need to register your quilts under the Heading Events.  Choose Quilt Show.

If you go into Categories, you’ll get the Category Decision Tree that walks you through the decision process for where your quilts should go.  This link will take you there.

If you go into  Policies, you’ll find the rules for entering and the descriptions of each category.  Here’s the link for Policies.

Both of these forms are printable if you prefer to work from a hard copy.

When you’ve read the Policies and have decided on the correct Category for your quilt click the Registration link.  This will take you to an online form to fill out.  Here’s that link

You’ll receive a confirmation email from me within a few days with the name of your entry and the registration number which was given to your quilt.  After you get the confirmation email  please take a photo of your quilt and email it back to me.  Be sure you provide your name, the quilt’s name and entry number with the photo.  I’ll send another email to you to confirm that I have the photo.

If you need assistance with registering or photographing your quilt, or if you have a friend who has quilts that need entering  but doesn’t use a computer don’t worry.  We’ll be setting up times in your area to offer personal help and photograph quilts.

Feel free to email or call me with any questions. Jackie Stankey, Darcy de la Rosa, Jean Amundson and Nan Scott are also able to help with any questions you have.  In fact they know infinitely more than I do at this point.  By July 5th  I’ll know a lot more than I do now.

Thank you!
