The Winner of our Name That Quilt Contest

The winner of our contest to name the 2021 raffle quilt goes to Linda Reeve.

Linda’s submitted name for the quilt is:

A Whale of a Day!

Congratulations Linda!   She’ll receive 20 tickets and will have her name listed as a participant on the quilt label. Thank you to all who participated.  There were some really fun names and some very elegant ones.   I’d also like to take the time now to thank Toni Brodie who appliquéd the whale, Jean Amundson for making the whale’s eye, Lisa Taylor for her beautiful quilting at a greatly reduced rate for the custom quilting she did, Jan McQueen for binding the quilt, and Nan Scott for printing and applying the quilt label.

I’d wanted this quilt to be more of a group effort but try as I might I couldn’t get that geometric pattern on the top of the quilt to work in a way that I could have it handed out as kits for you ladies to sew together.

I hope you’re all doing some sewing, although this weather is better suited for gardening.  Have you noticed the feel of fall in the air some mornings?  Soon we’ll be in our homes, the rain will be pelting the windows and we’ll get to sew without the distraction of all those chores that need doing outside.

I thought you might enjoy seeing some photos of the days before we were afraid to get too close, hug or laugh right out loud in a friend’s face or heavens to Betsy:  share a snack with a friend off the same plate.  Those days before we masked up to enter even the post office or open the door to the UPS man.

Work on those quilts and hopefully we’ll be showing them in 2021 at our quilt show.

Stay safe!

Melissa
