Veterans Quilt Presentations

Last Thursday at our sew-in, we presented quilts to 10 Veterans. They were all so impressed and appreciative of the gift and recognition of their military service. Thanks to all of you who played a part in making this happen!

We will not be meeting in April, since many of us will be at the Guild Retreat.

Come and sew with us on Thursday, May 28, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Siletz Grange. We will be having another presentation at 2:00 pm on that day.

Variation on a Half Log Cabin

What is a “half log cabin”?  The block starts with a dark square and then adds rectangles–one light, one dark, one light, one dark, etc., until the block is “big enough.”  The square is half dark and half light, with the dark logs going one direction and the light logs going another.  Blocks can be made with 1-1/2″, 2″, or 2-1/2″ strips, as desired.  Rebecca Carter, innovative quilter and teacher, will lead us through a fun-filled class creating half log cabin blocks.
