Challenge Quilts Pickup
Guild “Trips and Travels” challenge quilts will be returned at our guild meeting on Thursday, August 14.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, please either arrange with someone to pick yours up for you (and let Darcy know, so that it doesn’t get into the wrong hands!) or arrange something with Darcy for getting your quilt back to you at some other time.  Thank you all for participating in the challenge.  It was fun seeing your quilts and reading your stories!

Happy Birthday to our August Quilters!

Thanks to all those birthday quilters who have contributed snacks to our Guild meetings this year! It’s sure nice to have those snacks at our breaks!

If you have an August birthday and are willing and able, please bring a sweet or savory snack to the Guild meeting on August 14. One- to two- dozen pieces is plenty and snacks can be homemade or store-bought. Please let Laurie Downing know by text or email if you plan to bring a treat for the group, so she can plan ahead for the meeting.  We appreciate your contributions!

Not made for the microwave! Not made of rope! These bowls are beautiful additions to your home (or a friend’s) décor!

Create a fabulous fabric bowl! They are fast, fun, and easy; bet
you can’t make just one. The bowls make great gifts or decorative
items. No ¼ inch seams, no precise cutting. These beautiful fabric
bowls are made with Soft and Stable foam stabilizer and NO
ROPES REQUIRED! This is a good way to use up scraps or
charm squares. We will use our rotary cutters with a wavy/pinking
blade for cutting fabric. By the end of the workshop, we will go
home with a finished bowl!  Bring your favorite scraps!  Sign up TODAY!

October 9 Meeting Topic:  The Story of the Murder Quilt!

Peggy Gelbrich will present.   A small, rural town in Oregon was the setting of a murder in 1915.  Learn about the love triangle that led up to the murder and the quilt that was created.

Peggy Gelbrich will teach. Full-day workshop 9:00-4:00. $65.  Confident Beginner.

Simple, straight stitching will create this Carpenter’s Square quilt

(59” x 59”). Like most quilts, it’s really an easy puzzle that’s made
up of two different blocks and pieced sashing. If you have a
carpenter in your life this would make a great gift.  Sign up TODAY!

A Note from Darcy

A number of folks at Wednesday morning’s Quilt Show Judging asked for the scone recipe.  I can’t remember who you all were, but here’s the link to the recipe:

QUILTART Engagement Calendar

A note from Nancy: A couple of FYI things from Jean Amundsen got lost in my July shuffle between here and RI! Sorry they’re late, but still of interest, I hope:

From our friends at the American Quilter’s Society, submissions are now open for the 2027 Quilt Art Engagement Calendar!

“This weekly calendar celebrates the creativity, skill, and personal stories behind stunning quilts, and your quilt could be one of them.

What We’re Looking For:

All quilting styles welcome–traditional, contemporary, art quilts, applique, and
more
Locally recognized quilts–please include Quilt Guild, State Fair, or other quilt show award details in your submission
Display-ready condition–selected quilts must be available for professional photography before September 2025.

There’s no entry fee, and the quilters of the selected quilts receive a complimentary copy of the 2027 Quilt Art Engagement Calendar and are invited to be a part of the book signing event at AQS Quiltweek – Paducah.

Submit your quilt by August 30, 2025, to be considered for the 2027 edition.”

Need a Box for your Quilt?

Ruth Harris (503-730-5157) donated her daughter’s wedding dress, but they didn’t want the box. It is a safe box for quilts (Keepsake Pak) and she’s giving it away.  Any interest? Give her a call; it may still be available.
