Note from the Chairperson
Don’t forget the guild meetings are back to evening.
The table walk at the April 9, 2026, guild meeting, starts at 5:30 pm and the meeting starts at 6:00. See you there.
We need some help.
Our guild members couldn’t enjoy all the great activities we provide without many helping hands. Nancy Nash has been doing the blog for over two years, and she would like to step down. Nancy will be happy to train and mentor a member (or two) on how to do the blog. If you are interested, or curious about what the job entails, please contact Nancy at ncnash12@gmail.com or 541-272-1129.
The quilt show (July 31 & August 1) also needs many slots filled. Please sign up for some spots at the guild meeting. If you can’t attend in person, contact Pamela Potter at quilterOCQG@gmail.com or 971-801-3234, and she will tell you where help is needed. There are a variety of spots that need to be fillled, including many sit down jobs.
The retreat will be here soon.
The retreat at Aldersgate Conference Center is April 21-24. If you are doing the 2-1/2″ strip exchange, you will need twenty polka dot strips 2-1/2″ x WOF. The committee can’t wait to see all the fun items made from the challenge fabric. Another letter regarding the retreat will be out before the guild meeting.
Sponsored Ribbons
Quilters: It is time to “award” a special quilt of your choosing for a ribbon at the Quilt Show. At the next several guild meetings, you can place your name on the poster board, put your imaginative title on the line beside your name, then pay $10.
At the August Quilt Show, you will match your imaginative title to the quilt that deserves the title you have chosen. Now this is an opportunity for the Quilt Show to earn more money and for you to place a ribbon on your special titled quilt. Your title can be names, such as “Whimsical Garden,” “Warm & Cozy,” or “My Lucky Charm.”
We think that all our quilts in the Quilt Show are worthy of ribbons, and this is your opportunity to select even more winners! So, sign up at the next guild meeting!

Get Your Special Quilt Documented in May
All members: The next Documentation date is Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, 4907 SW Highway 101, Lincoln City, OR 97367. I will have a sign-up sheet at the April meeting at the Membership desk.
Please consider documenting one of your quilts. The schedule is currently open. We can do 18-20 quilts on this date. We limit the number of quilts for each individual to four per documentation date. This is a first come, first served appointment. There is a nomninal fee of $5.00 per quilt.
We document all quilts–old, new, used, etc. It is a fun day, and we all seem to learn something new each time. Please consider signing up. Thank you.

Quilts I Have Made Over the Years and Classes I’ve Taught
Rebecca Carter, quiltmaker and teacher at Finally Together Quilt Shop for over 20 years, will speak at our April meeting. During her trunk show, Rebecca will inspire us by sharing Rag quilt, Half Log Cabin, Hidden Star Log Cabin, Labyrinth, Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star Topper quilts, Peek-A-Boo Pumpkin wall hanging. Nine by Nine, Echo Star Log Cabin, Dot Dot Dash, Over & Down Under flannel quilt and Coastal quilts.

Friday, April 10, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, $55, plus $20 for textbook/pattern book, Variation on a Half Log Cabin
What is a “half log cabin”? The block starts with a dark square and then adds rectangles–one light, one dark, one light, one dark, etc., until the block is “big enough.” The square is half dark and half light, with the dark logs going one direction and the light logs going another. Blocks can be made with 1-1/2″, 2″, or 2-1/2″ strips, as desired. Rebecca Carter, innovative quilter and teacher, will lead us through a fun-filled class creating half log cabin blocks.

2027 Raffle Quilt!
It’s that time again! Time to work together on the 2027 Raffle Quilt. Hard-working elves put their rotary cutters and rulers to work and cut the fabric to make packets for all the volunteers lining up to make blocks. The packets include instructions, paper-piecing templates, fabrics, and pictures of the finished blocks.
All you Guild members who love to paper piece make sure you come to the April meeting (which starts at 5:30 pm don’t forget) and pick up your two packets. The blocks are due back at the May meeting. This is the final deadline, not the June or July meeting.
The blocks are easy and, of course, integral to the design. If you get stuck, you can always call Barbara Kinzel, Jane Szabo, or Tamara Craig for help. A big “Thank you” to all members who join in!

Happy April Birthdays, Quilters!
If you have an April birthday, and are willing and able, please bring a sweet or savory snack to the Guild meeting on April 9. One- to two- dozen pieces is plenty and snacks can be homemade or store-bought. Please let Laurie Downing know by text or email if you plan to bring a treat for the group, so she can plan ahead for the meeting. We appreciate your contributions!
